Why I’m Starting to Hate Summer Camping 😅 (Plus 2 Smart RV Upgrades)

Hey Campfire Embers!

The RV world is quietly shifting — better gear, smarter tools, and a few small changes that actually make life on the road easier.

But one story this week hit a little too close to home…

❄️ Advent Air Gets a Modern Makeover

I came across this from RV Business — ASA Electronics says it completed a full redesign of the Advent Air RV A/C lineup after nearly a decade. New two-tone shrouds, Bluetooth thermostats (backwards compatible), multiple BTU options, and something they’re calling “Flash Freeze” tech.

Now… let me be honest for a second 😅

We know the struggle with RV air conditioning.

There is nothing worse than pulling into a campground in July, your RV has been baking in the sun all day, and you flip on the A/C hoping for a miracle… and it just can’t keep up.

I’ve said it before — summer camping isn’t my favorite. It’s just too darn hot, and cooling down an RV quickly can feel nearly impossible.

🔥 Why this matters to RV families:
If these upgrades actually improve cooling speed and efficiency, that’s a big deal. Better airflow, smarter controls, and stronger components could mean less sweating it out while your RV slowly catches up.

🚽 Find Dump Stations Faster (And Skip the Guesswork)

This one solves a problem we’ve all had at least once…

You’re driving. Tanks are getting full. Kids are asking questions you don’t want to answer yet 😅

And suddenly you’re guessing where the next dump station is.

RVDumpFinder.com just upgraded their national directory with GPS search, filters, pricing, and real user reviews.

Honestly — this is the kind of tool that saves a trip from going sideways.

🔥 Why this matters to RV families:
Planning your dump stops ahead of time = less stress, fewer detours, and way cleaner travel days.

📰 Are RVs Getting Cooler… Than RVing?

This one made me stop for a second.

Tony Barthel shared a roundup on how RV design is getting really good — modern interiors, smarter layouts, better tech — while the experience of RVing is evolving in a different direction.

It raises a simple question…

Are we buying RVs for the lifestyle — or because the RV itself is becoming the attraction?

We’ve felt this a bit ourselves. Every upgrade makes the camper more comfortable… but the real magic still happens outside.

🔥 Why this matters to RV families:
Understanding where the market is headed helps you:

  • Time your purchase better
  • Avoid overpaying for “trendy” features

Focus on what actually improves your trips

That’s the roundup for this week — a few small shifts that can make a big difference when you’re out on the road.

And if you’re like me… still sweating through summer camping… hang in there 😅

Cooler days (and better A/C tech) are coming.

If one of these sparked a question, hit reply and tell me — I’ll dig deeper on whatever you want to see more of.

Hey Campfire Embers 🔥 Setting up at a campsite is routine… until it’s not. One trip, I was so pumped to get parked and settled that I completely forgot our water hose at home. 😅 Cue the last-minute Walmart run while everyone else was already relaxing. That’s the thing with RV life — it runs smooth until one small miss turns into a headache. Here are a few practical things that caught my eye this week to help keep your trips running smooth. 🚰 RV Hookups Made Simple This one stood out because...

Hey Campfire Embers! Spring travel season is kicking off — and the RV world is heating up fast. Campsites are filling, travel demand is rising, and some industry experts are already warning about crowded parks and fuel uncertainty. Here are three RV travel trends I’m watching this week. 🌷 Spring RV Travel Is Back I came across this new survey from the RV Industry Association, and the numbers jumped out at me. More than 34 million Americans plan an RV trip this spring — a 23% increase from...

Hey Campfire Embers! I skipped last week’s newsletter. Part of it was simple — no new blog post. Part of it was even simpler — I didn’t feel like writing. 😅 And honestly? That’s probably a sign of what 2026 will look like for OCU. Less “must ship every week,” more every-other-week flow. I want these notes to feel useful, not forced. 🧠 75 Hard… Modified Before the new year, I mentioned Madeline and I were going all-in on 75 Hard. Reality check — we went with 75 Modified. Two 45-minute workouts...
